Happy Tuesday my loves!
I actually had this blogpost planned for a while, however it seems that no other time was as fitting as this, as I have come down with the flu; which sucks big time as I don't get sick very often. However a while back I was searching the internet for things to make me feel better when I was ill and failed to find anything that actually worked for me. So here are some pointers for when you might be feeling slightly under the weather.
1. Drink plenty of fluids: I sound like my Grandma here but it couldn't be more true! I find that if I drink more water then my body is hydrated which helps it to get better faster. Also the up side to drinking plenty of water when ill is that your skin does not get worse because water is so good for your skin. I've non-stop drank about 3 bottles of water per hour and had to get up regularly in the night because I felt sick if I didn't have water often. When I had a bath last night I looked at my skin and realised it probably has never looked better.
2. Look after your skin: Tying in with my first point, I tend to make sure my face is always clean when I'm ill. Not only does it help me to feel refreshed but I know for sure that I don't want to be ill with a full face of makeup on. Let your natural skin breathe for a while and it will do you the world of good. If you're too sick to do a full skincare routine I usually use my face wash and my moisturiser, without having to worry about eye creams and spot treatments. I also keep a tube of lipbalm & some handcream by my bedside to use when needed.
3. Keep warm: This sounds weird if it's the middle of Summer but I find that there's nothing better than having the windows open to let fresh air in whilst cuddled up under your duvet watching re-runs of old tv shows. When your sick you often need to catch up on sleep & if I am warmer I always sleep better.
5. Remember to take your medication: This is a big one for me, because when I am sick I cannot survive without being dosed up on Paracetamol and Ibruprofen. I set my alarm so I know when to take more, as it will need time to kick in and I don't want to start feeling worse again.
6. Do something that makes you happy: For example I have decided to sit down and type this blogpost up, after that I will probably read and go on tumblr. Living the life :)
7. Eat bland food, but also eat small portions of things you crave: When you're sick there's nothing worse than having something like a curry and then throwing it back up afterwards, yes the thought of curry may sound appealing but some things are just too rich for your stomach to deal with when you're sick. I stick to simple things like Soup, Toast & FishFingers (Which to be honest is what I usually eat anyways haha.) but whenever I have a craving for something (Usually fizzy drinks, chocolate or fruit) Then I remember to only eat them in small portions. Over indulgence can usually leave you feeling worse.
8. Don't feel like you have to do anything until you're feeling better: That thing you're stressing out about right now, can wait until you feel better. I promise.
