It's so good to be back from Soul Survivor & there will be a blog post on that in the next couple of days but today I wanted to talk about one of my birthday presents that I got early which was my room re-decorated for when I came back from SS.
Coming home to my new room was a roller coaster of emotions. It was something that I had wanted done for so long.. and eventually my parents gave in. Choosing everything I wanted took SO long and I was so scared nothing was going to match and it would all look awful, however putting all of my trust in both my parents was honestly the best thing I could do. Letting them get stressed over it meant that I wasn't going to ;). I helped to choose the carpet, paint, wallpaper & a few bits and bobs. The whole arrangement and placement was all down to my parents.
The first thing you see on the right as you enter my room is this lovely piece. This mirror is absolutely beautiful but I'm not sure where it is from as my sister gave it to me after she had picked it up from work. Its the perfect size and quite a statement piece which to be honest I wasn't overly keen on too much as I thought it would make my room look crowded but it is very quickly growing on me.
On the left is my jewelry stand which only has a few pieces of jewellry as I tend to not where it that often. So the few pieces that I do own are there to put on in the morning if I wish to. Something I love about this stand is that it has a very small owl on the top, as they are my favourite animal and the print seems to be everywhere at the moment.
The only other thing on my chest of drawers that you can see is my little basket filled to the brim of things that I often use coming in and out of my room. As you can see from the picture this includes Dry Shampoo, Deoderant & Hairspray..and many other bits and pieces. Its always useful to have products like this easier to grab rather than have them stored away somewhere as I find myself reaching for them constantly.
Starting at the bottom is a large wicker basket where all of my hair stuff is kept, this way I can pull it out in the morning and do my hair whilst using the large mirror which is easier than carrying everything over to my desk which you will see soon.
I have a lot of storage units on here as I have a lot of stationary, makeup & skincare items. This is where the lesser used or new ones are stored, The little picture frame I have next to the bigger boxes will soon have a picture in of my best friend & I of when we went to camden. I can't wait to get it printed off soon.
The last three shelves are basically what you can see. A lot of notebooks and storage, some candles and a few books (I must have gotten rid of over a hundred easily!). This place is my favourite as its very tidy at the moment, however I'm not entirely sure how long my room will stay this way as I do have a habit of leaving things around. This is definitely a habit that I am attempting to break however!
The mirror you can see on the left is my favourite thing on the whole room that is new (Which now excludes my bed lol) Mum found it on ebay and sent me the link which I instantly fell in love with as it looked similar to one I found in a shop called Flutterbyes but around double the size. I'm so glad it was bought for me as it means getting ready in the morning is a lot easier.
This was one of the very first things I noticed in my room, which I think is pretty much perfect. I had heard that bible verse being thrown around a lot in different situations but never sat down and really thought about it. This verse is always encouriging when having a bad day which now and again we will all get. This verse always helps to lift up my mood and get on with the day rather than mooching around feeling sorry for myself.
This little corner may not look like much to anyone but to me is VERY important. Starting with the tray with two owls on (Thankyou Grandma for this purchase.) I have my two every day wristband and my hair clip, which are the last things that I take off before going to sleep. Its good to have somewhere to put these so I know I wont get them lost. This is also where I charge my phone. Which I am FOREVER misplacing, so this tray is incredibly useful.
Behind is 3 of my favourite yankee candles at the moment which I burn depending on what mood I am in.. Currently I am burning the one furthest to the right which is Salted Caramel. Although not everyones favourite it is of course one of mine.
Lastly on this table is my birdcage lamp at the back. For absolute ages I used my phone as a lamp which at times wasn't the most practical however now I have a beautiful one that I really love and is a lot brighter than my phone lamp.
Some of my older readers might recognise this mirror as my #OOTD mirror, however now it is purely for my makeup as I have the bigger one for more oufit pictures which will be coming your way.
Under this top is two drawers that are full to the brim with makeup, if you wish to see a separate blog post on these two drawers please leave a comment down below.
Lastly which is probably the most exciting news is that I now have my own laptop thanks to many many months and years of begging for a new one. There's a whole reaction video to me seeing my room for the first time and the laptop reveal... where yes I do cry, a little. If you wish to see that or have any other blog post suggestions please leave a comment in the box below :)
Go out and change the world.
Love Char xo
