Hello my loves!
I find around this time of year very stressful for end of term exams, and then after we come back we are preparing for gcses or alevels or just end of year exams. I found online a few ways to help and thought I would share them with you.
1. This is such an important one because you don't want to work yourself too hard, If you work hard for those 20 minutes and then go get a drink it helps you to clear your head before you sit down and continue studying.
2. I find alternating where I study always such an important thing to do. For example I find it very stressful to work at home because I need somewhere were there is no distractions and where I can isolate myself. I find coffee shops the best place to sit and revise, the atmosphere is relaxing and aslong as I have a hot chocolate I'm more than content to stay there.
3. This one I cannot stress enough. Non-Lyrical music has saved me so many times. There is something about it that is so relaxing and stress relieving. I don't get along with classical music at all. However I make an exception for studying.
4. Drinking cocoa is not one that I would have thought of beforehand however it is supposed to increase the blood flow to the brain.. not too sure on this one. However the best alternative is drink lots of water, this keeps you awake during the day and refreshes you.
5. Sometimes it's best to study alone but studying in groups can actually help. If there are things that are not your strong points and vice versa sometimes it can help you revise if you are helping somebody else.
6. I remember doing my exams in the summer and having so many negative thoughts about my exams, which when I came into the exam meant that I was thinking negatively with a 'whats the point' attitude. I don't have to tell you that this isn't a good thing to be thinking.
7. Something else I never did when revising, however it does help to get out of your seat and do something so you are not constantly sitting down. Even taking the dog for a walk. Also the fresh air will do you good and keep you awake. Even if you are revising for the most mundane topic ever (Hello Geography).
8. Most exams have a time limit. Try and stick to that when revising, this way you will know what you can get done in that time limit, and then expand where you need to.
9. Speaking to teachers really helps. No-one wants to struggle through exams alone, and believe it or not the teachers actually have your best interest at heart. Speaking to teachers really helps relieve the stress as sometimes they have good techniques to remember in the exam.
10. Personally this is another one I didn't do and I really regret it. This is a brilliant way of remembering key words and what they need. If you take notecards wherever you go, whenever you have a spare couple of minutes make sure to go through them.
11. I know it's really easy to sit there and study what you already know. I've been guilty of doing that myself. However you know fully well that you are not getting anything actually done. If tackling something is really hard for you, break it up into smaller parts and take it one part at a time.
I hope whatever exams you have coming up that you do well in, remember to study hard and stay hydrated.
Go out and change the world.
Love Char xo
